Overview

This live symposium will cover the importance of weaving principles of trauma informed care into perinatal palliative care.


Target Audience

This event is intended for Primary Care Physicians, Specialty Physicians, Psychologists, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Chaplaincy, Social Work, Neonatologists, Pediatricians, and Hospice/Palliative Care.


Statement of Need

Not enough education on trauma informed care for families, addressing trauma that caregivers experience in caring for patients with life limiting illnesses, the role of spirituality in perinatal palliative care, and parents' long-term experience and mental health needs after perinatal loss.


Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:

  1. Recognize the importance of trauma informed care for families as part of perinatal palliative care.
  2. Recognize the role of spirituality in perinatal palliative care.
  3. Recognize that healthcare providers experience trauma in caring for infants with life limiting conditions.
  4. Recognize the mental health needs of families after perinatal loss.
