Overview

This educational opportunity is designed to provide an update on diabetes and diabetes related co-morbidities, reinforcing the importance of early diagnosis, recent advances in treatment, and to meet identified needs of clinicians in this area.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for all physicians from all specialties, pharmacists, physician assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners, as well as residents, and medical students. Diabetes affects all providers of medical care. The specific method of employing the information that is learned will be dependent upon each individual's role.

Statement of Need

Healthcare professionals regularly manage complex chronic conditions that require timely, evidence-based interventions to improve patient health outcomes. This symposium addresses a critical professional practice gap by providing clinical pearls and data-driven strategies across key specialties, including endocrinology, neurology, psychiatry, and rheumatology. Learners will gain updated knowledge regarding new therapeutic options, motivational interviewing techniques for depression, and genetic screening workflows. This education is designed to bridge the gap between current knowledge and ideal clinical practice, optimizing care coordination and patient management in busy office and emergency settings..

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:

  1. Translate current medical science, evidence, and clinical reasoning into daily practice to bridge identified professional practice gaps and improve overall patient health outcomes.
  2. Analyze and address practice-based problems by implementing changes in clinical strategy, execution, and performance.
  3. Integrate core institutional competencies, including patient-centered care, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement, into interprofessional healthcare team workflows.
  4. Optimize care coordination, professional performance, and clinical relationships to enhance the delivery of healthcare services to patients and the public.
