Overview of event
The Fourth Annual Delaware Statewide Stroke Summit will bring together experts, providers, survivors, and community partners for a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary program focused on advancing stroke prevention, acute care, rehabilitation, and long-term recovery in Delaware. The agenda features dual Community and Clinician tracks, with keynote presentations on stroke prevention and lived survivor experience. A core emphasis of this year’s summit is cross-functional collaboration across the full continuum of stroke care, uniting acute and palliative medicine, neurology, cardiology, rehabilitation, primary care, behavioral health, community health, and patient/family partners to align best practices and strengthen care transitions. Sessions will explore emerging models in medical and surgical management, post-acute recovery, rehabilitation innovation, CPR readiness, and patient/caregiver perspectives, with the shared goal of improving outcomes and driving statewide alignment in stroke care delivery.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for Physicians, ALL Specialty Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
Statement of Need
Persistent variability in stroke prevention, treatment, and post-acute care contributes to suboptimal clinical outcomes and patient experiences. Many institutions lack standardized protocols, coordinated systems of care, and effective integration of emerging research and technology into practice. Gaps in rehabilitation planning and interprofessional communication further undermine care continuity and long-term recovery. Addressing these deficiencies requires education that enhances interprofessional competence, promotes evidence-based decision-making, and improves clinical performance across the stroke care continuum.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:
- Describe recent advancements and emerging techniques in the prevention and treatment of stroke.
- Analyze current evidence and specialized approaches in stroke care to enhance interdisciplinary practice.
- Apply research findings and systems-based strategies to improve the coordination, quality, and outcomes of stroke management.
