Overview
This educational opportunity is designed to foster an understanding of how health is intrinsically linked to the way we interact with our environment and how caregivers can promote health through climate education, mitigation, and adaption.
Target Audience
This event is intended for Physicians, Primary Care Physicians, Specialty Physicians, Psychologists, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Social Work, and Students.
Statement of Need
Climate change is affecting health negatively. The World Health Organization notes that climate's change is the greatest threat to humanity at this time. However, there is great climate paralyzation with caregiver's actions to protect health from climate change with regard to not communicating patients how to protect themselves from climate's health impacts nor are cargivers communicating to legislature for the climate health policies that will protect public health.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:
1. Discuss current state of our climate and how the healthcare industry can reduce its carbon footprint.2. Discuss the health impacts related to climate.
3. Foster an understanding of how health disparities are exacerbated by the climate and how climate solutions present an opportunity to build health equity into our policies and practices.
4. Support innovation for health through mitigation and adaption.
