Overview of event
Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the U.S., claiming more lives than all forms of cancer combined. Stroke ranks as the fifth leading cause of death in the country, and Delaware has the highest stroke mortality rate in the nation. This summit aims to address these critical issues and enhance strokecare across the state.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for Physicians, ALL Specialty Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
Statement of Need
Significant gaps persist in stroke care across multiple domains, hindering optimal patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency. These gaps include limited adoption of advanced neurointerventional techniques and fragmented stroke care systems. Addressing these needs through comprehensive education and systemic improvements is crucial to enhance stroke prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation across all patient populations. By focusing on these areas, healthcare providers can work towards reducing treatment delays, standardizing care protocols, and ultimately improving patient outcomes in stroke management.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:
- Evaluate and implement the latest evidence-based advancements and techniques in stroke treatment, including neurointerventional procedures and thrombolytic therapies.
- Critically appraise and integrate current research findings into clinical practice for specific aspects of stroke care, including prevention, acute management, and rehabilitation.
- Design and optimize stroke systems of care to improve treatment timelines, enhance patient outcomes, and address healthcare disparities.
- Develop and implement evidence-based quality improvement initiatives to enhance stroke care processes across various healthcare settings.
- Apply multidisciplinary approaches to stroke management, incorporating insights from recent research to improve patient care and outcomes.
