Overview
This one-day virtual conference will address current and new pharmacological and clinical approaches with the goal of achieving safe prescribing practices and optimal clinical outcomes.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for all specialty physicians, pharmacists, psychologists, physician assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners.
Statement of Need
Clinicians are unaware of signs and the effects of burnout in Medicine. Clinicians have varying understanding and knowledge of implicit bias associated with addiction, management of Methodone, Buprenorphine, XR-naltrexone. Clinicians will need to know what the addition of these new medications impact on management of DM. Clinicians need to have knowledge about updated guidelines and recommendations for treatment of patients with heart failure. Clinicians need knowledge of new medications recommended for treatment of heart failure.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:
- Recognize signs and effects of burnout.
- Identify implicit bias associated with addiction, as well as management of Methodone, Buprenorphine, XR-naltrexone.
- Discuss the role new diabetic medications plays in the overall management of DM, including side effects and dosing.
- Discuss the role of new medications available for treatment of heart failure.
- Discuss recent antibiotics recommendations, stewardship and updates in management of antimicrobials.
- List new medications available for treatment of TB along with their dosing and side effects.
- Describe the new guidelines on TB treatment and where these new medications lie in the guidelines.
- Review lab interpretations of active and latent TB.
- Discuss treatment options for seizures.
- Discuss pediatric syndromes and subsequent adult medical management, including disease processes, as well as resources, and management.
- Recognize the order of starting and discontinuing vasoactive medications in the ICU.
- Recognize and manage Post-COVID effects on patients.
