Event Overview

This educational opportunity is designed to foster an understanding of how health is intrinsically linked to the way we interact with our environment and how caregivers can promote health through climate education, mitigation, and adaptation.
 

Target Audience

This activity is intended for specialty physicians, primary care physicians, residents, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, and students.


Statement of Need

There is a pressing need to equip healthcare providers with knowledge and tools to address environmental health risks, integrate sustainability into care, and strengthen collaborations with communities, especially as climate change increases these challenges.


Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:

  1. Identify key environmental impacts associated with healthcare and implement strategies to reduce the sector’s carbon footprint.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of both direct and indirect environmental determinants of health and apply this understanding to enhance patient care.
  3. Recognize the importance of developing strong healthcare-community partnerships to improve environmental resilience and public health outcomes.
  4. Support innovation for health through mitigation and adaptation.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Medical Society of Delaware and Christiana Care. The Medical Society of Delaware is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
