Overview

Join Dr. Markian Pazuniak for a discussion around identification of when specific symptoms are related to Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitors(SSRIs) and how to manage the side effects including distinguishing when to switch medications. 


Target Audience

This activity is intended for physicians, primary care physicians, specialty physicians, physician assistants, advanced clinical practitioners, nurse practitioners, nurses, and social workers .


Statement of Need

Currently, PCPs may not have experience identifying and managing medication SSRI medication and its adverse side effects. PCPs need to be able to detect, diagnose and modify medication managment related to adverse effects of SSRIs. esists a gap is in the knowledge and understanding of evaluating and treating individuals with intellectual disability
and cormorbid mental health disorders


Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:

  1. Identify common and rare adverse side effects of Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI) - most common class of antidepressant.
  2. Manage adverse effects of SSRI.
  3. Identify times to switch medication when encountering an adverse effect.
