Overview

The Annual William J. Holloway Infectious Disease Symposium continues its rich tradition of addressing topics of local and global significance of providers practicing medicine today.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for primary care physicians, specialty physicians, pharmacists, residents, medical students, physician assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners.

Statement of Need

Lack of knowledge is present regarding changing resistance in infections, and options to treat. Specific to bronchiectasis is an expected knowledge of the condition but failure in clinical practice to incorporate knowledge to prevent and treat exacerbations. Knowledge of, and failure to incorporate access to Pre-exposure HIV treatment is one aspect of HIV expected to be covered.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity learners should be able to:

  1. Discuss how to select antibiotics for drug resistant infections.
  2. Discuss how to diagnose and treat bronchiectasis, and treat infectious exacerbations.
  3. Discuss prophylactic use of antiviral medications for HIV, and treatment of HIV.
